Someone Will be There to Pick Me
Up
When we lived in Jacksonville Beach , Florida ,
a lady from Alaska
came to Beaches Chapel as a guest speaker.
In Alaska ,
she said that she and three other people were in a plane, which crashed into
the side of a mountain in the wilderness.
Seconds before, the Spirit told her that she and this other lady would
survive.
She and her companion did
live. After the crash, she said they
didn’t pray-- they didn’t need to. The
presence of God was so strong, they knew what to do. There were direct instructions, “Go around this tree, slip down here. .
.etc.” Big white polar bears came. But the Inner Voice said, “You have authority
over them.” So they weren’t afraid. And the bears did not attack.
All the way they were saying, “Thank you,
Lord, for the boat that will be in the clearing.” Sure enough, when they got to the clearing,
there was the boat. They were rescued
and taken to the hospital. She said this
strong Presence remained with them for a little while longer and then gradually
dissipated.
Once I planned to
visit someone on Saturday. However, I
was detained and couldn’t go until Sunday.
The person I was visiting said, “I can’t come to get you on Sunday.”
I said, “Don’t
worry. Someone will pick me up.”
The person I
planned to visit thought this was a sign of craziness. However, I have often been in this
space. “Thank you for the boat that will
be in the clearing.” And the ride, the
boat, the provision was there. Many
people on this earth right now have no computers, no phones, no ATMs no GPS—or
whatever it is. What must they rely upon?
Is it possible that we in this country will ever be in a place where we
lack these things? How will you be
guided? Security is in the Secret
Place. We will have to know within. Jesus said that the Holy Spirit “ will guide you into all truth and show you
things to come”. Whatever is in the
future should not come upon us unawares (Luke 21:34). We should know what to do.
Sometimes when we’re
led by the Spirit, we don’t know why we’re supposed to knock on that door, or pick
up something off of the sidewalk or dance down a delightful lane led on by
surprises. etc. But we’ve have learned to hear The Voice. “My
sheep hear My voice and another will they not follow.” My friends, it is not crazy to say, “Someone
will be there to pick me up.”
I have a friend,
Elaine, who has gone on to be with the Lord.
She would hear a word, “Go to the airport and there will be someone
there to give you a ticket.”
She would have no
money in her hand, but there she would be going off to Israel or Indonesia.
Do our children
know about this kind of guidance? There
is so much noise—it’s hard to hear the Spirit.
I heard a
two-year-old say to her Mommy in Publix, “I don’t have time.”
Children are learning
early. No time to hear TheVoice—too busy. Those ipods and phones and computers
their little fingers move back and forth on are no substitute for the guidance
of the Holy Spirit—the guidance that never leaves or forsakes us.
Song words:
Alabama—I’m in a hurry
Chorus
I’m in a hurry to
get things done
(oh) I rush and
rush until life’s no fun
All I really gotta
do is live and die
But, I’m in a
hurry and don’t know why.
1. Don’t
know why
I have to drive so
fast
My car has nothing
to prove
It’s not new, but
it’ll 0-60 in 5.2, oh
Chorus
3.Can’t be late
I leave in plenty
of time
Shakin’ hands with
the clock
I can’t stop
I’m on a roll and
I’m ready to rock oh,
Chorus
4. I hear a voice
It says I’m
running behind
I better pick up
my pace
It’s a race and
there ain’t no room for someone in 2nd place
Chorus
Song:
There is a place of quiet rest
Near to the heart
of God
A place where sin
cannot molest
Near to the heart
of God
Chorus:
O Jesus, blest
Redeemer Sent from the heart of God,
Hold us who wait
before Thee
Near to the heart
of God
2. There is a
place of comfort sweet
Near to the heart
of God
A place where we
our Saviour meet
Near to the heart
of God.
3.There is a place
of full release
Near to the heart
of God
A place where all
is joy and peace
Near to the heart
of God.
